Old Hollywood Curls

Hollywood is known for it’s retro glam curls since many old Hollywood stars popularized the look throughout the 1940’s. To this day many stars like Blake Lively and model Candice Swanepoel have been rocking this sexy sided look to major events and photo-shoots. When it comes to this curled look you don’t have to be a movie star or model to contribute to the trend, with just a simple curling iron and the comfort of your own home we’re going to show you how to create these gorgeously glam waves that you can sport for any occasion. Change up everything you know about curling your hair, in order to achieve these sultry tresses, you will
need to curl towards your face, not away. We know that when wanting to make large curls we curl our hair away from our face to frame it, but in order to create these retro curls its all about curling the hair towards our faces. It may seem confusing at first, but we promise you’ll quickly get the hang of it.

What we find easiest to do when curling your hair is to section it into 3 sections, the bottom, the middle, and your top section. Starting with your bottom section using a 1 ½ curling iron or 2 inch barrel begin by curling your inch sections towards your face and pinning them up so they can really take form and hold your curl. Just repeat the same pattern, curling towards the face and pinning them up. Once you’ve reached that final top layer, part your hair into a deep side part. This will create that beautiful over the eye sweep that every glam Hollywood star wears. Just finish off the rest of the curling towards your face and pin up. Now, wait for about 10 to 15 minutes just so the curls have time to set and take shape, we recommend doing your makeup at this time or choosing your outfit for the night. Once your 15 minutes are up release your curls and carefully brush them out to create that all in one curl that just flows effortlessly!
